How does your first visit look like?
1
Onboarding
Please check-in at the clinic reception upon arrival. We kindly ask you to arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow enough time for completing the required forms. It is essential to provide accurate medical information, including any medications you are currently taking. We also ask that you bring along all dental X-rays taken in the past — especially the most recent ones — to avoid repeating examinations unnecessarily.
2
Initial in depth examination
At your first visit, our goal is to gain a complete and in-depth understanding of you as a person, your goals, and your current oral health status. We will carefully examine your teeth, gums, and soft tissues, as well as your jaw joints and muscles.
To fully assess your oral health, X-rays are required to evaluate your bone structure and tooth roots. All X-rays are taken using the latest generation of low-radiation digital technology, ensuring maximum safety and precision. The standard X-rays at a first visit usually include:
-
Panoramic X-ray – provides an overview of the entire jaw and surrounding structures
-
Bitewing X-rays – used for detecting cavities between teeth
Depending on your individual situation, additional imaging such as 3D CBCT scans, periapical X-rays, or a 3D intraoral scan may be recommended. Clinical photographs are also taken to document and analyze your condition in detail.
The main goal of this initial visit is to examine everything thoroughly, explain your current situation, and discuss treatment options with you. A first appointment typically takes around 60 minutes. In more complex cases, a longer or additional session may be necessary.
All future follow-up visits are usually shorter (30 minutes or less), as we already know your situation, required treatments have been completed, and the focus is on maintaining a healthy, stable condition.
3
Professional Cleaning
A professional dental cleaning every six months is the standard of care recommended by international guidelines. It is one of the most effective preventive measures for ensuring lifelong oral health and is strongly supported by scientific studies.
At your first visit, the cleaning is usually performed after your examination, so we can first assess the health of your gums. For all future visits, the cleaning is carried out before the dental check-up. This way, any staining or discoloration is removed, allowing the dentist to examine your teeth in a clean and clear condition.
For patients with periodontal disease or a history of periodontal problems, shorter intervals of every 3–4 months are recommended to maintain stability and prevent relapse.
A standard professional cleaning, combined with personalized education and practical tips on how to keep your smile healthy, usually takes about 60 minutes.
